Following the earlier blog post featuring images from Tbilisi, I am sharing more images from this beautiful city. It was the month of October and the weather was perfect to explore the city all around the day.

The above two images show the Bridge of peace, the spectacular pedestrian bridge which is a famous landmark in the city. All photos posted here are taken with the Nikon mirrorless camera Nikon 1 V2 and Nikon 1 zoom lens 70-300 VR.

The majestic Statue pictured in  two of the above four images is known as Kartlis Deda or Mother of Georgia. It is located in the Sololaki hill which can be reached by cable cars. The 20-meter-tall aluminium statue, wearing Georgian national dress and holding a cup of wine in one hand and a sword in the other symbolises the Georgian national character. Wine stands for hospitality and the sword represents every Georgian’s love of freedom.

The Nikon 1 V2 is a small mirrorless camera with an one inch sensor but very easy to use with typical Nikon ergonomics. It is a very capable camera bearing in mind the small sensor size and together with the Nano coated Nikon 1 70-300 VR lens, is able to capture high quality images. The images here are all telephoto images and the attempt is to pull in moments and snapshots of the city from a distance.

Tbilisi is a historical city as it has been the capital of Georgia since the fifth century AD. Here you can find contemporary skyscrapers, Soviet-era buildings, and traditional Georgian houses with colorful wooden balconies. The city is influenced by several types of building styles that include Georgian, European, Rusian and Byzantine styles among others.

All these photographs were shot in RAW and first processed though DxO LAB where the noise were reduced by applying PRIME noise reduction irrespective of the ISO of the image. Then SHADOWS/HIGHLIGHTS and LENS SHARPNESS SETTINGS were tweaked to taste and Auto setting of MICRO-CONTRAST was applied. Then the photos were  opened in PHOTOSHOP CC and some adjustments were done including correcting horizon and cropping as required. You can view a larger size image if you click on any of these photographs.

The best time to visit and explore Tbilisi would be from April to July and again in September-October. Expenditure for an average tourist is very reasonable compared to other European countries. I am signing off with two candid shots taken with the help of the long Nikon 1 zoom I was using to shoot these images.
