Checkered Keelback with Nikon 1 Gears …

This is a Checkered Keelback snake shot with Nikon 1 Mirrorless gears in Indore, India. Scientifically specified as “Xenochrophis piscator” and also known as Asiatic Water Snake, this breed of snake is very common in Asia. They thrive in freshwater lakes or rivers and feed mainly on water frogs and fish.

Checkered Keelback  is variable in colors and somewhat in patterns also. Overall it can be identified by carefully checking blackish patched dorsal surface on brown, greenish or yellow ground color. The snake is non-venomous.
