I already did a post of Nagaland here from my visit last December during the period when Kohima(the capital of Nagaland, a north-eastern state of India) celebrates the Hornbill Festival.

The main venue of the Hornbill Festival is the  Heritage village Kisama, some 12 km south of Kohima where it is a carnival time from December 1st to December 10th every year. Kisama offers a fascinating insight into the life and culture of the various Naga tribes. The festival itself is organized with the aim to  showcase the diverse cultures and traditions of Nagaland.

Indian citizens need to get an inner line permit to visit Nagaland. This can be obtained at Nagaland house in Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong or Dimapur. It’s a fairly simple process and all you need to bring along is an accepted photo identity card and passport-size photographs. Foreign tourists (except from Pakistan, Bangladesh and China) no longer need a Restricted Area Permit to enter.

There are so much to explore in Nagaland apart from the Hornbill Festival and I sure do hope to do so in the future. So long. Cheers.
